DCA were asked by CAF to design their next generation of DMUs for Northern Ireland Railways (NIR). We designed a new cab front-end moulding for this train, incorporating a redesigned headlight arrangement, and, in combination with our new livery treatment, this was used to create a modern-looking train exterior embodying the service values of Translink, the public service company managing the railway network used by NIR.
The interiors were given a new, coordinated design that integrated the latest corporate brand image generated by NIR, using a blue-themed colour scheme throughout. Particular attention was given to the design of the colour-differentiated priority seats, multi-purpose area and universal toilet to ensure compliance with the latest PRM TSI standards.
