DCA developed this innovative design concept for Singapore Airlines’ Business Class seat. Before our design work began, we first researched for key trends in the behaviours and expectations amongst high-end air travellers that we could leverage in our design solutions. One such insight was the growing tendency for business travellers to take partners or families with them on business trips.
This insight informed our Business Class seating concept. This saw one of the first embodiments of a sliding door on a Business Class seat, allowing the occupant to create a secure, private space, insulated from the rest of the cabin and their travelling companions when they wanted peace and quiet. Conversely, the dividing screen between adjacent seats can be lowered, allowing convivial engagement for co-travellers.
