LYNX / AXE wins DuPont award for packaging innovation
DCA is proud to announce that the packaging for the LYNX /AXE deodorant can has been awarded a 2015 The DuPont Awards for Packaging Innovation.
Inaugurated in 1986 The DuPont Awards for Packaging Innovation is the industry’s longest-running, global, independently judged celebration of innovation and collaboration throughout the value chain. The LYNX /AXE Deodorant Can receive a GOLD award, having been identified as being “Engineered to Combine Complexity with Simplicity”. This resulted from the close partnership between DCA’s Design Engineering team and the Packaging Development team at Unilever’s Deodorants Global Design Centre in Leeds.
An independent panel of packaging experts evaluated nearly 140 entries from more than 25 countries. Jurors consider excellence based on Technological Advancement; Enhanced User Experience and Responsible Packaging. “The winners demonstrated the power of integrating precision engineering, design and technology in a way that brings multi-sensorial yet functional packaging to delight consumers,” according to Yasmin Siddiqi, DuPont Packaging Awards program leader.
“We saw packaging that added intuitive functionality in a way that was both simple and meaningful for the user,” said David Luttenberger, CPP, global packaging director, Mintel Group, Ltd., USA and lead judge.
“This year’s winners stand out as leaders in packaging innovation,” said William J. Harvey, president, DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers. “They exemplify how collaboration, innovation and packaging excellence converge to generate game-changing solutions that positively impact our lives.”
This award is the most recent in a long and prestigious line of awards that the LYNX /AXE deodorant can has received. Other notable awards include: the Starpack Industry Awards 2014 for non food & drink primary packaging in the wellbeing & beauty care category; an iF Design Award 2015 for packaging design and an WPO WorldStar for health and beauty packaging which was announced at a ceremony in Milan last month.
