Leo Cancer Care’s Marie Particle Therapy Solution Wins Prestigious iF Design Award

Since 1954, the iF DESIGN AWARD has been recognized as an arbiter of quality for exceptional design. It is presented annually by the world’s oldest independent design institution, iF International Forum Design GmbH in Hannover.

Affectionately named after Marie Curie, the new upright patient positioning and imaging system is a major innovation in radiotherapy treatment, combining a step change in accessibility and affordability with clinical benefits and an improved patient experience, where the interaction between patient and operator is literally at the centre of the system.

Stephen Towe, CEO of Leo Cancer Care commented, “This is an incredible achievement for the Leo team. We constantly work to develop devices that not only push the clinical boundaries but also put the patient first. Our goal to become the more human way to treat cancer is all about creating an environment where we can all feel a little more human and less like a patient. DCA are world leaders in design so this partnership has been fantastic from start to finish.”

Malcolm Boyd, Senior Sector Manager at DCA commented, “Working on a product that will positively impact the future of cancer care is tremendously rewarding in itself; the product’s design being recognised with one of the most prestigious design awards in the world is testament to the passionate teamwork and fantastic collaboration between Leo Cancer Care and DCA design teams. From the outset of establishing a new visual brand language to embodying it in the Leo Cancer Care Marie system, the teams have carefully balanced and challenged technical constraints whilst striving to deliver the highest quality visual design and patient experience. Congratulations to all the team involved in this fantastic achievement and successful collaboration!“
