DCA investment boosts our in-house electronic rework capability

DCA has invested in an ERSA HR550 surface mount rework station to augment our existing capabilities in reworking electronic circuit boards in-house.

Small is beautiful. Many of the products that we are asked to design are very compact, since this provides users with solutions that are more attractive, easier to handle and more ergonomic. To do this we need to call upon our well-established expertise in designing very small, densely populated printed circuit boards, with a key enabler being the trend for electronic components to be manufactured in smaller and smaller package sizes.

However, this drive for miniaturisation brings challenges during the prototyping and testing phase if boards need to be reworked. At such small scale, a high power microscope, a precision soldering iron and the manual skills of an expert technician are often no longer sufficient.

Our newest rework station allows the precise placement of even the smallest components and controlled soldering/de-soldering in densely packed circuit layouts. That means our electronics team can rapidly modify and refine our prototype electronic circuits in-house as part of an iterative optimisation process, even when we are dealing with ever smaller, more compact designs.
